I can’t even tell you how excited I am to show you the images from this pregnancy announcement photo session. This mama-to-be is so special to our family. She was my son’s fantastic first-grade teacher, and she also taught my daughter during her very first year of teaching. If you booked one of my minis, there’s a good chance you’ve met Jordan. She’s warm, funny, and the kind of person who lights up every room she walks into. She’s going to make an incredible mom.
A Pregnancy Announcement Filled With Heart (and a Little Humor)
I’m a terrible secret keeper when it comes to exciting news, so it was very hard to keep quiet when my son came home one day, puzzled, saying, “Mrs. Ricks didn’t feel good today. Her tummy hurt, but she didn’t go home for germs.”
It all made sense when she finally made her pregnancy announcement to her class. According to my son, the kids were a little confused about whether it was Mrs. Ricks who was having the baby or her dog, Oakley. Naturally, Oakley earned a starring role in their announcement photos because who could resist that sweet face?
Why an In-Home Pregnancy Announcement Photoshoot Works So Well
When planning their session, I knew an at-home pregnancy announcement photoshoot would be the perfect fit. Jordan’s laid-back energy and her husband’s camera-shy personality made their home the ideal place to relax and be themselves.
We started in their bedroom with soft natural light and cozy textures, featuring the ultrasound photo as a sweet, timeless nod to what’s ahead. Oakley the pup happily joined in because being promoted to big sister is serious business.
From there, we moved into the kitchen, where the sunlight poured in through the windows, and wrapped up with a few quiet, snuggly moments on the couch. The whole session felt effortless and full of joy, just the way lifestyle sessions should.
