Backyard Family Photo Session in Indianapolis | Summer Fun

Last summer, I opened up a new kind of family photo session for Indianapolis Families- Summer Backyard Family Sessions. I had the absolute joy of capturing summer family fun photos for the Orander family in Indianapolis as a part of this series. As a family photographer in Indianapolis, I love creating sessions that highlight the special moments of family life. Summer is my favorite time of year to really expand that creative, documentary edge in my work and come up with out-of-the-box, fun ideas for family photos. This backyard session was filled with creativity, joy, and authentic moments that truly showcased the beauty of at-home photography. There’s something incredibly special about making these memories right in the comfort of your own home.

A Creative Summer Photography Session in Indianapolis

Bailey reached out last summer for updated family photos of their two little ones, Millie Kate (3) and Oliver (1). They wanted a session that included "some front porch ‘portraits’ as well as some candid backyard living shots." The session was a beautiful blend of posed and candid moments, capturing the essence of summer family fun in their own backyard. It was heartwarming to see the kids being themselves, exploring their surroundings, and having genuine fun.

This session was a treasure trove of delightful moments: the Orander family's chickens, a chicken feed tea party, family prayers over breakfast outside, sticky popsicles, bare feet, chalk drawings, curious gray tabby cats, and snuggles on the front porch. Each detail reflected the family's personality and love, making it one of my favorite sessions ever. The creativity was off the charts, and every moment felt incredibly genuine and special.
